President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his dismay over CNN’s report on alleged shooting of peaceful protesters at Lekki Tollgate plaza in Lagos.

Recall on October 20, men in military uniform allegedly opened fire on ENDSARS protesters demanding an end to police brutality.

The Nigerian Army denied its personnel were involved in the shooting but later admitted that they were present at the scene but acted within the law.

After its investigation on the shooting, CNN claimed the Nigerian Army used live bullets on citizens. But the army insisted it only fired blank shots into the air.

However, at the meeting with 36 state governors in Abuja on Tuesday, President Buhari said he felt “disgusted” by the report of the American news medium over issues of imbalance.

The President said CNN ignored the deaths of the police officers, the burnt stations and prison break which occurred following the shooting at Lekki.

“I was disgusted by the coverage, which did not give attention to the policemen that were killed, the stations that were burnt, and prisons that were opened,” Garba Shehu, the presidential spokesman, quoted Buhari to have said.

“They said we are all at fault. We don’t have the sympathy of anyone. We are on our own).”
