Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has advised human right lawyer, Femi Falana to seek legal intervention to prove his innocence over allegations he received N28 million from the suspended acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu.

A recent media report had claimed the presidential probe panel indicted Falana of receiving the said sum from Magu which the senior advocate denied in a pre-action letter signed by his lawyer, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika (SAN), while also demanding a retraction of the publication.

Reacting through his official Twitter handle on Wednesday, Fayose asked the human right lawyer to clear his name in court rather than issuing “empty threats”.

“My counsel to Falana is that he should stop making empty threats and go to court,” he said.

“If there is nothing to hide, why is Femi Falana threatening instead of simply going to court? Isn’t this alleged link to Magu another opportunity for him to go to court and clear his name?

“Methinks his likes should stop carrying on as if they are saints and untouchables.”
