A senior Nigerian Army officer has been killed during a suspected kidnap attempt by armed assailants, in an incident that has heightened concerns over insecurity in the country.

According to security sources, the officer was attacked by gunmen believed to have been attempting an abduction. The confrontation turned deadly, resulting in the officer’s death before security operatives could intervene.

Security agencies have launched an investigation into the attack and intensified efforts to identify, apprehend and prosecute those responsible. Authorities have also assured the public that measures are being taken to strengthen security and prevent similar incidents.

The latest attack adds to growing concerns over the increasing wave of kidnappings and violent crimes in parts of Nigeria, prompting renewed calls for enhanced security operations.
