The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited recorded a ₦535 billion profit after tax in June 2026, marking a 15.8 per cent increase from the ₦462 billion posted in May, as the national oil company sustained strong revenue performance and advanced critical gas infrastructure projects across the country.

The figures are contained in the company’s monthly financial and operations report for June 2026, which also showed that total revenue for the month stood at ₦4.389 trillion.

According to the report, cumulative statutory payments to the Federation Account between January and June 2026 rose to ₦6.286 trillion, underscoring NNPC Limited’s continued contribution to national revenue generation.
On the operational front, average crude oil and condensate production dipped slightly to 1.72 million barrels per day (mmbopd) in June from 1.73 million barrels per day recorded in May.
The company attributed the marginal decline to operational disruptions, facility integrity challenges, and subsurface issues affecting several production assets.

In contrast, natural gas production increased to 7.841 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscf/d) from 7.774 million standard cubic feet per day in May, representing a 0.86 per cent increase and reflecting the company’s continued expansion of gas production.

The report also highlighted steady progress on major gas infrastructure projects. The Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben (OB3) Gas Pipeline has reached 98 per cent completion, with final tie-in works ongoing ahead of the planned First Gas delivery in August 2026.

Similarly, construction and installation works on the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline advanced to 94 per cent completion, keeping the project on course for early gas delivery to Abuja later in 2026.

The latest financial and operational performance reflects NNPC Limited’s drive to improve profitability, strengthen gas infrastructure, boost domestic energy supply, and sustain its contribution to Nigeria’s economic growth despite operational challenges affecting crude oil production.
