Police Parade Six Suspects Over Rape, Death Of UNIBEN Student, Vera

The Edo State Police Command has paraded has paraded six suspects in connection to the death of Vera Uwaila Omozuwa, a 100-Level Microbiology student of the University of Benin who was raped in a church in Benin, the Edo State capital.

The names of the suspects are Nelson Ogbebor, Akato Valentine, Mrs Tina Samuel, Mrs Mary Ade, Nosa Osabohien and Collins Ulegbe.

Mr. Johnson Kokumo, the state Commissioner of Police, speaking on Wednesday, said the arrest was as a result of the efforts of the police to get at the root of the crime.

“The matter is of great concern to the Inspector General of Police,  Muhammed Adamu, who sent homicide experts to work with our policemen in Benin,” said Kokumo.

“What we are seeing today is a result of the efforts of the police to get at the root of the crime, and today, I announce to you that the perpetrators have been arrested.”
