Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, has resumed individual training following his absence from the team the last two weeks due to a tear in his abductor muscle.

Napoli are in a race against time to recover their star striker ahead of their Champions League quarter-final clash with Milan on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old Nigerian forward missed the Partenopei’s last two league outings against the Rossoneri and Lecce after suffering the concerning injury at such a vital stage of the season while on international duty with Nigeria.

Things went from bad to worse for Napoli as backup striker Giovanni Simeone suffered a knee issue during the win over Lecce, putting him in doubt for the European encounter as well.

Corriere dello Sport highlights how Napoli are now desperate to recover Osimhen in time for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie with Milan, scheduled for April 12.

The Nigerian striker did not train with his teammates today (Saturdau), working individually in the gym, and time is starting to run out as he works on his recovery.

Napoli manager, Luciano Spalletti has admitted that the Partenopei have struggled without their talismanic forward.

Napoli were thrashed 4-0 by AC Milan last weekend but laboured to a 2-1 win over Leece on Friday night.

The win re-established Napoli’s 19 points lead at the top of the Serie A table.

“We need to see how he reacts to strong physical activities, so far he’s done some basic jogging,”Spalletti said.

“It’s difficult without him (Osimhen), because he has this way of running into space, this physicality, he can draw everyone to him and create the space for his team-mates
