The Nigerian Navy has dismissed as fake a recruitment notice circulating on social media, purportedly announcing the commencement of its 2026 Batch 39 recruitment exercise.
The Director of Naval Information, Capt. Abiodun Folorunsho, said in a statement on Monday that the notice was not authorised and should not be regarded as an official recruitment announcement.
He urged prospective applicants and members of the public to disregard recruitment information obtained from unofficial social media accounts, websites or other unauthorised sources.
According to him, authentic information on Nigerian Navy recruitment, including eligibility requirements, application procedures, timelines and categories, would only be released through the service’s authorised communication channels.
The Navy identified its official recruitment website as joinnigeriannavy.navy.mil.ng, while its official website is navy.mil.ng.
Folorunsho also warned members of the public against making payments to individuals, agents or unauthorised platforms in connection with recruitment, stressing that the exercise is free of charge.
He added that the Nigerian Navy does not authorise third parties to recruit applicants or collect recruitment fees on its behalf.
The Navy reiterated its commitment to maintaining a transparent and credible recruitment process and providing timely and accurate information through its official channels.
