Senator Ned Nwoko has announced plans to challenge a Federal High Court ruling that dismissed his suit questioning the candidacy of former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the Delta North Senatorial District.
Reacting to the judgment, Nwoko said he respects the court’s decision but believes the issues raised in the case deserve further judicial consideration. He disclosed that his legal team has begun the process of filing an appeal, expressing confidence that a higher court will thoroughly examine the matter.
According to the senator, the legal action is aimed at safeguarding due process and ensuring compliance with electoral laws. He maintained that seeking judicial clarification on issues affecting the electoral process is essential to strengthening Nigeria’s democracy.
The planned appeal is expected to prolong the legal dispute surrounding the Delta North senatorial contest as interested parties await the next stage of the proceedings.
