Security agencies have arrested three suspected members of a kidnapping gang allegedly responsible for the August 2 attack on St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Inoyi-Affa, Udi LGA, Enugu State. The operation involved the DSS, Nigerian Army, Police, Enugu State Forest Guard and other security personnel.
One suspected kidnapper was killed during a gun battle, while four AK-47 rifles and ammunition were recovered from the gang.
Two of the three people abducted during the church attack — seminarian Lawrence Igbo and Emmanuel Onwudi — have also regained their freedom and reportedly identified the arrested suspects as their abductors.
The Enugu State Government said investigations are continuing and warned anyone providing support or information to criminal groups that they would also face prosecution.
