The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to protect the popular will of Kogi electorate.

The call was made on Sunday via the press statement signed by the party’s national publicity secretary, Felix Morka.

While reacting to the call by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) that the electoral umpire should cancel all the votes from the central senatorial district of the state, Morka insisted that the candidate of his party, Usman Ahmed Ododo, was coasting home to victory and he should be declared winner.

He then urged INEC to protect the integrity of the electoral process by not illegally succumbing to the pressure of bad losers.

He added that the candidate of his party is maintaining landslide lead over his closest rival, Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, of the SDP.

“We are keenly aware of intense pressure, including violent threats on INEC staff, by agents and supporters of trailing opposition parties, aimed at unduly influencing or disrupting ongoing collation of results in the state.

“We urge INEC to stand firm in the discharge of its constitutional duty to deliver free, fair and credible election in the state and ensure that the freely exercised will of the Kogi electorate prevails,” Morka submitted.
