Former Kogi West Senatorial representative, Dino Melaye has described the coronavirus period as a time for sober reflection and to return to God.

The former senator on Thursday posted a scriptural excerpt which explains how God sent an epidemic as punishment for man’s sins and a condition of repentance for a return to prosperity, adding that ‘it is not about mask and hand sanitizer.’

The excerpt reads: “Whenever I hold back the rain or send locust to eat up the crops, or send an epidemic to my people, if they pray to me and repent, if they turn away from the evils they have been doing, then I will hear them from heaven, forgive their sins and make their lands prosperous again.”

In a series of tweets following that, Melaye further stated on Friday that the Covid-19 period was a time to draw close to God, ‘reorganize and discipline oneself’.

The tweet reads: “This corona period is a sober reflection time, reorganizing and discipline oneself. Most importantly staying attuned to God. We still remember the story in the bible about the tower of Babel.

“Governments have become gods, individuals have become diabolically arrogant, leaders have become thieves and cabals, citizens have become complacent and greedy.

“Sin has become a normal lifestyle on earth and God is laughing at us in his sour displeasure. I repeat we must apologize to God and repent of our sins.”
