The Israeli government has banned residents from leaving their homes except for essential reasons such as buying of food or drug and to seek medical attention in a bid to stem the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

The country’s health ministry issued the directive on Tuesday, stating that its citizens maintain social contacts by media and not entertain friends or family unless they live in their building.

The statement reads: “you must not leave your homes to visit parks, playgrounds, the beach, the pol or libraries.

“You should maintain social contacts by media and not entertain friends or family unless they live in your building.”

Daily Mail reports that the government did not say when the new regulations would come into force.

Other measures announced by its state officials to curb the spread of the epidermic include, suspension of all public transport at night as well as putting the majority of public sector workers on leave for one month and banning more than 30% attendance in private sector workplaces.

The country has so far recorded over 300 infection cases of Covid-19 with zero cases of mortality.
