The governor of Kaduna State, Governor Nasir El-Rufai has rekindled commitment towards ending the problems of banditry in the state following a reprisal attack on some villages in Igabi and Giwa Local Government Areas.
According to reports filed by Legit.ng, suspected bandits attacked and killed at least 30 people in some villages in Igabi and Giwa local government areas of Kaduna State in what appeared to be reprisal attack on the villagers who we’re suspected to be giving information to security agencies.
The attack reportedly left several local residents of Kerawa, Rago, Marina, Zariyawa, Hashimawa, Gidan Musa Saidu, and Unguwar Barau severely injured while many properties were destroyed.
As the death toll reportedly rose to 51, Governor of the state, Malam El-Rufai said his government will make sure that the menace of banditry will be brought to an end. He also said that his government will not give the attackers a breathing space.
The governor also said that he will not grant amnesty to the bandits, saying there will not be any form of negotiation with the criminals terrorizing the peace of the state.
He, however, assured the villagers that security operatives would be stationed in the villages to provide adequate security and forest all further attacks.
