A major disaster was averted in Lagos after a gas-laden tanker caught fire along Abaranje Road in the Ikotun area of the state. Swift intervention by emergency responders brought the blaze under control, with no casualties or fatalities recorded.

Emergency officials said the incident occurred near Ola Farm Bus Stop after the tanker reportedly hit a road bump at high speed, causing the driver to lose control. The impact led to a tyre burst, which triggered the fire.

Personnel from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service responded promptly, extinguishing the fire and preventing it from spreading to nearby buildings and vehicles. Traffic and crowd control were handled by other emergency agencies throughout the operation.

Authorities confirmed that the fire was successfully contained and urged motorists to observe speed limits and exercise caution while driving, especially when transporting hazardous materials.
