President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the suspension of the Chairman of the Special Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property, Mr Okoi Obono-Obla with immediate effect. The Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) on Tuesday said the state was ready to host FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2020.The commission led by the Executive Chairman, Kweku Tandoh, confirmed this to newsmen on the sidelines of the four-day inspection of facilities and equipment by a FIFA inspection team. Nigeria had, among other countries, made bid to host the 10th FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup championship scheduled for 2020. Two students have been feared killed with many others injured after a pedestrian bridge collapsed at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Gubi Campus. The bridge which links one of the hostels and another building containing lecture rooms collapsed at midnight, following a heavy downpour. The Student Union President, Naziru Mohammed, told Channels TV that two students have been confirmed dead and two others injured. Students of the university are however currently protesting, blaming the bridge collapse on negligence by the institution’s authorities. The Department of State Services DSS says African Action Congress AAC presidential candidate and covener of the revolution now protest, Omoyele Sowore, was arrested for threatening the public peace and safety with his planned protest.
