The federal executive council (FEC) has approved the installation of scanners worth N495 million in all railway stations across the country. Ademola Adegoroye, minister of state for transportation, disclosed this to state house correspondents on Wednesday after the FEC meeting, presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo. The Lagos State government said it had begun an investigation to unravel circumstances surrounding the collapse of a building in Banana Island, Ikoyi area of the state, on Wednesday. He also agreed to forfeit $8 million in proceeds of wire fraud as well as luxury cars and watches to the foreign government. The World Bank announced on Wednesday a grant of $200 million toward repairing Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, as officials from the war-torn country met with financial institution leaders in Washington. Russia damaged more than 50 per cent of Ukraine’s power infrastructure in attacks on its neighbor over the autumn and winter months, the global lender said in a statement. It noted that Ukraine’s East, where fighting was fiercest, had been particularly hard hit. The Independent National Electoral Commission has said that over 3,000 Bimodal Voter Authentication Systems would be deployed for the supplementary elections, scheduled for Saturday, April 15. A top official of the commission, who spoke to our correspondent on Tuesday, said that over 3,000 BVAS would be configured and re-configured. INEC would conduct supplementary elections in 2,660 polling units across 185 local government areas of 24 states.
