APC Slams ADC Over ‘Bogeyman’ Claims, Dismisses Alleged Plot as Fiction
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed claims by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of a federal plot to destabilize its ranks, describing the allegations as baseless, deceptive, and a desperate attempt to cover internal cracks.
In a statement on Tuesday, APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, accused the ADC of “trudging the beaten path of lies and deception,” likening its actions to those of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP).
The ADC had, on Monday, July 7, alleged that its state chairmen in the North East and North West were summoned to a secret meeting with federal government officials aimed at intimidating and coercing the opposition coalition. The party said it had “credible intelligence” about the plot, sparking concerns over political interference ahead of the 2027 general elections.
But the APC has strongly rebutted the claim, arguing there is “no reason for Mr. President or APC to expend valuable time and energy trying to sow confusion” in what it described as an already disoriented and internally fractured party.
“There was no such meeting, and certainly, no one could have been coerced or intimidated at a meeting that never was,” Morka said. “This could have happened only in the warped imagination of masters of deception and marauding invaders of the ADC.”
He further claimed that the ADC’s leadership had hijacked the party in a “Gestapo-like” takeover, leading to widespread internal disaffection and imminent collapse. According to Morka, the APC sees the ADC’s accusations as a “preemptive excuse” for a looming political failure.
“The ADC needs no help from our great party to unravel. It is already mortally wounded by confusion delivered by its invaders,” he stated.
Taking aim at leading figures in the opposition coalition—including Peter Obi, Nasir El-Rufai, Rauf Aregbesola, and Hadi Sirika—Morka questioned their track records and accused them of hypocrisy, incompetence, and failed leadership during past appointments.
“What else can be expected from a coalition of failed and restless presidential contenders determined to bring down the roof on the altar of their inordinate ambitions?” he queried.
He praised President Tinubu’s administration for what he called “incomparable and unassailable” strides in economic reconstruction and sectoral reforms, noting that the opposition had yet to offer Nigerians a coherent or alternative vision for development.
Concluding the statement, Morka declared that while the opposition “wallows in self-inflicted confusion,” the APC-led government would remain focused on building a stronger and prosperous Nigeria.
