A survivor of the recent hostel building collapse in Anambra State has recounted how he jumped from the second floor in a desperate attempt to save his life as the structure came crashing down.

The survivor said he noticed signs of danger moments before the collapse and made the split-second decision to leap from the building. Although he sustained injuries, he said the jump ultimately saved his life.

Emergency responders and residents rushed to the scene following the incident, carrying out rescue operations while victims were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Authorities have since launched an investigation to determine the cause of the collapse.

The incident has renewed concerns over building safety standards and compliance with construction regulations, with stakeholders calling for stricter enforcement to prevent similar tragedies.
