Access Bank Plc has warned customers, partners, stakeholders and members of the public against a fake social media and WhatsApp account impersonating the bank’s official handle.

In a public notice issued by its management, the bank described messages being circulated through the impersonating account as “false and misleading,” urging the public to disregard them.

Access Bank reassured customers that it remains safe, financially strong and fully operational across all its subsidiaries, adding that its services continue to run seamlessly.

The bank said it is working with relevant regulatory and law enforcement authorities to identify those responsible for creating and spreading the false information.

It noted that appropriate legal action would be taken against individuals found to be involved, in line with applicable laws and regulations.

The financial institution further reminded the public that creating, publishing or disseminating false information capable of causing public alarm, damaging reputations or undermining confidence in institutions constitutes an offence under Section 24 of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) (Amendment) Act, 2024.

Access Bank advised members of the public who receive suspicious or misleading messages to avoid sharing or forwarding them and instead disregard such information.

The bank urged customers and stakeholders to rely only on its official and verified communication channels for accurate information.

Access Bank thanked its customers, partners and stakeholders for their continued trust and confidence.
