Agboola Ajayi, Ondo State Deputy Governor, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Allen Sowore, Media Adviser to the Deputy Governor disclosed this in a statement in Akure.
According to Sowore, Ajayi’s decision to resign was as a result of the call on him “by a majority of the good people of Ondo State to give hope to the hopeless, provide credible and purposeful leadership in our dear state”.
The Deputy Governor, however, thanked the national leadership and members of the PDP for their warm reception and acceptance in the short period he rejoined the party.
Recall Ajayi who was elected alongside his principal, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC), dumped the party for the main opposition party after falling out with the Governor.
He contested in the PDP governorship primary election in the state but lost to the party’s candidate, Eyitayo Jegede.
