VP Shettima unveils 5th Expanded MSME Hub in Enugu

Vice President Kashim Shettima, on Thursday inaugurated the 5th Expanded National Micro Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Clinic in Enugu aimed at bridging the gap between government and the SMEs.

The Vice President also inspected the Enugu International Conference Centre which is over 80 per cent completed, the digital museum, as well as the Command and Control Centre located at the Government House, Enugu.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the event was organised by the Federal Government through the Office of the Vice President in collaboration with the Enugu State Government.

The nationwide Expanded National MSME Clinics is an initiative of the Federal Government tailored towards supporting and training Small Scale businesses in the country.

He explained that the MSME Clinic across Nigeria was the Federal Government’s effort and commitment in nurturing Small Medium Enterprises and fostering economic growth.

Inaugurating the Enugu Fashion and Garment Hub, the vice president said the hub and others across Nigeria was a stepping stone for economic development of the country.

“It is equipped with technology to support manufacturing cluster in Enugu State and has potential to produce many fashion products from military uniforms, schools and corporate wears that meet global standard as well as creating jobs,” he said.

Shettima, who disclosed that President Bola Tinubu had in his heart special place for Ndigbo, said the problem of the Southeast was infrastructural deficit especially erosion that affected the livelihood of the people.

“We will meet with the National Assembly and Governors of the southeast to find solution to problem of erosion especially in a state like Anambra and Abia.

“They are issues with practical solutions.

“Enugu has a special place in my heart while the President has special place in his heart for Ndigbo. This led to passing of the Southeast Development Commission bill into law.

“The president deliberately picked the daughter of the Southeast from Abia State, Jennifer Adighije, as the Executive Director of the Niger-Delta Power Holding Company to champion Light Up the Southeast industrial clusters.”

He commended Gov. Peter Mbah for good governance of providing water, Smart Schools and others for Enugu people.

Speaking, Gov Mbah described the inauguration of MSME Clinic as ‘remarkable event’ adding that he was delighted to welcome the Vice President to Enugu.

“The vice president has proven to be a champion of MSME growth in Nigeria,” Mbah said.

He stressed that the importance of MSME to the Nigeria economy could never be overemphasized, saying that almost 90 per cent of businesses in the country were small scale.

According to him, they are the backbone and life blood of our economy, and the only carefully policies that enhanced the ease of doing business in the country.

“The expanded national MSME Clinics comes as a gift of priceless value to young entrepreneurs in Enugu State and beyond.

“It offers solutions for business challenges such as regulatory approvals , access to grants, network opportunities and Exhibition.

“The clinic will foster innovation and job creation and global competitiveness while offering training and resources for the next generation of fashion designers within Enugu,” the governor said
