Nigeria’s Ministry of Finance has deleted the tweet begging US billionaire, Elon Musk for ventilators to fight coronavirus in the country.

Meridian Spy had earlier reported that Musk, who is the founder and Chief Engineer, SpaceX, had on Tuesday, through his verified twitter handle, announced that his company had free ventilators for hospitals within Tesla delivery regions.

The finance ministry replied, tweeting: “Dear @elonmusk @Tesla Federal Government of Nigeria needs support with 100-500 ventilators to assist with #Covid19 cases arising every day in Nigeria.”

However, MERIDIAN SPY can confirm that the tweets has been deleted from the verified twitter handle of the finance ministry.

Meanwhile, the Special Adviser, Media and Communications to the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Yunusa Abdullahi, in a statement on Thursday described the tweet as “regrettable” and was ‘unauthorised’ and had been pulled down.

He said: “An unauthorised post was made on the verified Twitter handle of the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning.

“The fact of the post is regrettable because of which it is brought down.

“We have made sure our internal processes are strengthened that such doesn’t happen again. The error is highly regrettable.”
