The alleged mastermind behind the killing of passengers on the Abuja-Kaduna train, Ibrahim Abdullahi, also know as ominous moniker of Mandi has been apprehended by the police.

The Police Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, made this known on Thursday in Kaduna state.

Recall the attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train in which about 14 persons were killed and 63 officially declared abducted was carried out on March 28, 2022

The attack, however, forced the Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC, to temporarily suspend activities while ex-President Muhammadu Buhari directed security agencies to rescue the victims.

Confirming the arrest, Adejobi informed the media that the suspect had also participated in the abduction of students from Greenfield University in 2021.

The Police said that 48 AK-47 rifles were seized during Mandi’s arrest and efforts are underway to identify his sponsor and supplier of weapons
