Troops Hit Boko Haram Hard, Disrupt Fuel, Fertilizer Supplies in Borno, Adamaa

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai, have intensified pressure on Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) elements, cutting off key logistics supplies and arresting suspects in fresh operations across Borno and Adamawa States.

Between September 19 and 24, 2025, soldiers under Operation Desert Sanity IV intercepted several consignments of smuggled fuel and urea fertilizer, neutralised a terror scout, and arrested two key collaborators linked to insurgent networks.

In Adamawa, troops of 232 Battalion and Sector 4 Special Forces seized a total of 21 jerricans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) between Vintim, Tsamiya, and the Fillin Ball–Gella axis of Mubi. On separate occasions at Mubi Central Market, large quantities of urea fertilizer — commonly used by terrorists to fabricate improvised explosive devices (IEDs) — were abandoned by suspected suppliers who fled the scene.

Similarly, on September 22, troops of 73 Battalion working with Civilian Joint Task Force and Hybrid Forces ambushed terrorists at Kolori Karumi, near Alau Dam in Borno, killing a Boko Haram scout during a night encounter.

The following day, soldiers of 112 Task Force Battalion at Forward Operating Base Ngwom arrested a 54-year-old suspect, Thomas James, who was caught attempting to transport 23 bottles of PMS concealed in a bag to Gamboru Ngala. Preliminary investigations linked him to insurgent fuel supply lines.

Also, on September 24, troops working with local hunters apprehended a 31-year-old Boko Haram fighter, Ahmadu Buba, in Garkida, Gombi LGA of Adamawa State. Buba, who hails from Sabon Gari Kimba in Damboa, confessed to joining Boko Haram in April 2025 and admitted to participating in attacks in Mandaragirau and the destruction of Mandahuma Bridge earlier this year.

Military spokesperson, Lt-Col Sani Uba, said the latest breakthroughs represent a major disruption to Boko Haram’s supply chain.

“These consistent interceptions have dealt a blow to terrorist logistics and IED-making capacity. The troops’ gallantry and alertness continue to sustain operational successes in the North East,” he said.

He added that the suspects are undergoing further investigation, while troops have been charged to maintain the aggressive posture and operational tempo in the theatret.
