The Convener of The Asiwaju Group (TAG) and the Deputy Chairman, APC PCC UK
Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi has congratulated the president-elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on his well deserved victory at the just concluded presidential election.

Tinubu, a former Lagos State governor, was announced the winner of Nigeria’s presidential election Wednesday morning.

The Nigeria president-elect was the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election where he triumphed over his major opponents Atiku Abubakar of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party’s Peter Obi and candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

In a statement signed by the leader, Dr.  Mustapha Abdullahi, said Tinubu’s victory wasn’t reach the member as surprise, but a deserved victory for his contribution in the democratic tenets in the country.

The statement read:
On behalf of the leadership of The Asiwaju Group (TAG), The group Convener Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi will like to join other well-spirited Nigerians to congratulate, our leader, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his well-deserved, resounding victory in the just concluded 2023 Presidential Poll and the declaration as the validly elected president of the most populous black nation in the world by the country’s electoral umpire – Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

For us in TAG, ably led by Dr. Abdullahi, the victory did not come to us as a surprise, it is a well-deserved victory having contributed in no small measure to democratic tenets in the country.

Asiwaju’s involvement, contributions and experience in the struggle for the democracy we practise today had indeed prepared him for the daunting task of leading our blessed nation, a fete achieved today.

Furthermore, Mr Abdullahi stressed that the incoming president’s doggedness in the face of intimidations, intrepidity during military suppression, harassment/incarceration and his never-giving-up spirit in the face of several attempted assassinations by the ‘Kakhi Boiz’ were indeed hallmarks of a leader with determination, courage and guts.

The story surrounding this success in the just concluded polls is an experience that academics will study for a very long time. He quotes ‘Losing your perceived strongholds, yet going ahead to win with a landslide is a sign of your acceptance across the country, your camaraderie with all and sundry and your Midas touch on every homo sapien that had come across you one way or the other in life’.

We are indeed particularly happy that as a Group, we engineered Asiwaju’s declaration to contest even though he may have had that in mind. We are one of the foremost handful support groups to throw their weight behind him even when he had not declared to run. This success story, we are more than elated to share in it. As e dey pain the opposition, e dey sweet us that our leader did not only win, he did win with a resounding victory.

Having been issued Certificate of Return to our candidate as the validly elected president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, we look forward to having a robust cabinet made up of brainiacs and eggheads, idiosyncratic of personage. We are very confident in the leadership deliverables and very sure that Asiwaju’s administration will birth a new Nigeria with the #RenewedHope Action Plan; a breath of fresh air and an egalitarian Nigeria where the son of nobody can become somebody without necessarily knowing anybody.

Once again, big congratulations to you, sir, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Jagaban Borgu, President-elect, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, CEng, MIMechE
The Asiwaju Group (TAG) Convener, and The Deputy Chairman, APC PCC UK
