As the Sokoto Governorship Elections Petition Tribunal is set to deliver its judgement on Saturday, journalists not working for state and national media platforms were not allowed into the courtroom.

The Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate, Saidu Umar, are challenging the victory of Governor Ahmad Aliyu in the March 18 governorship poll.

Journalists arrived at the court premises as early as 7:00AM passing through strict security checks as the court premises was manned by heavily armed security personnel making access to the court a very difficult task.

The Head, Directorate of the State Security Services while addressing journalists at the court, said only journalists working for the state-owned media and those of the Nigerian Television Authority would be allowed into the court chamber.

A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria was later allowed to join other journalists allowed access to the courtroom
