Sen. Saliu Mustapha Commends Tinubu’s Food Security Policy, Advocates Infrastructure Devt Commission

Sen. Saliu Mustapha Commends Tinubu’s Food Security Policy, Advocates Infrastructure Devt Commissio

Senator Saliu Mustapha, representing Kwara Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agricultural policy, particularly his six-point agenda for food security.

Speaking at the Kwara Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (KWACCIMA) 11th inauguration and investititure in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Senator Mustapha, who spoke through his Aide, Mal Nasir Abdulquadri, Special Technical Adciser on Job Creation, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Yesterday.

He also advocated for the establishment of a National Infrastructure Development Commission to address the infrastructural deficit in the country’s rural areas.

He said that President Tinubu’s agricultural policy is visionary and has the potential to transform the sector and ensure food security for the nation. He particularly commended the President’s plan to construct near-farm silos to mitigate post-harvest losses, which have been a major challenge for the sector.

Senator Mustapha also said that the establishment of the National Infrastructure Development Commission is essential to addressing the infrastructural deficit in the country’s rural areas and creating an environment conducive to agricultural growth.

He noted that poor maintenance culture is the Achilles’ heel of the country’s infrastructure, and the Commission would play a vital role in addressing this issue.

While Sharing his personal vision, he said, “My personal vision for the agricultural sector, which involves the enhancement of mechanized farming, the impartation of modern farming techniques, and the exposure of youth to the vast opportunities within the agriculture value chain.

“These are the keys to unlocking the potential of the country’s young populace, addressing unemployment, and fostering a new generation of agribusiness entrepreneurs”.

Senator Mustapha commended KWACCIMA for its partnership with the government and urged the new leadership to continue to propose initiatives that will expand the horizons of the agricultural sector and create greater opportunities for the people.

Mustapha said that the future of agriculture lies not only in sustaining current practices but also in embracing innovation and equipping youth with the skills and knowledge needed to drive agricultural transformation.

He expressed confidence that together, the government, private sector, and stakeholders can cultivate a brighter future for Nigeria.
