Reno Omokri, former media aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, has argued that scripturally only virgins are deserving of payment of bride price.

In his usual nuggets released via his official Twitter handle on Saturday, Omokri argued that both the scriptures and traditional African society do not accept payment of bride price to non virgins.

“What I am going to say will shock people. Scripturally, Bride Price is ONLY paid for virgins,” he wrote.

“Don’t argue with me. Argue with God. See Exodus 22:16-17. By virtue of Scripture (and also in traditional African society), you pay no Bride Price for non Virgin.”
