The Presidency has announced the release of all pupils, teachers and other passengers who were abducted along the Ogbomoso–Ilorin Expressway in Oyo State on Wednesday.
Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga disclosed the development on Friday, attributing the successful rescue to the coordinated efforts of security agencies. He commended the military, police, the Department of State Services (DSS), and local vigilante groups for their role in securing the victims’ freedom.
The victims were reportedly travelling to participate in a competition when gunmen intercepted their bus and whisked them away, sparking widespread concern across the country.
While confirming that everyone had been safely released, the Presidency said efforts are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators and reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to tackling insecurity and protecting the lives of Nigerian
