The Kano State Police Command has imposed a restriction on movement in four local government areas, starting from midnight on Friday until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.

In a statement on Thursday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, listed the affected areas as Bagwai, Shanono, Ghari, and Tsanyawa.

Haruna explained that the ban covers all vehicles, tricycles, and motorcycles within the period, with exemptions only for essential services such as ambulances, fire trucks, and vehicles belonging to electoral officials or accredited observers.

The restriction, according to the police, is part of efforts to ensure a peaceful and transparent conduct of the Ghari/Tsanyawa State Constituency re-run election and the Bagwai/Shanono State Constituency by-election.

The Command, under CP Ibrahim Bakori, working alongside other security agencies, has put necessary measures in place for a smooth and hitch-free exercise, urging residents to comply fully with the directives.

According to Haruna, only eligible voters will be granted access to polling units, while only party agents accredited by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will be allowed to operate at those venues.

He warned against carrying weapons, wearing or displaying party symbols, or loitering around polling stations. Local security outfits, including vigilantes and KAROTA personnel, will also be barred from the election areas.

Reassuring residents of adequate security, the Command appealed for cooperation to ensure a smooth and incident-free poll in the affected co
