Police Commissioner Refunds N500,000 To Man Who Was Extorted By Officers Over Curfew Violation In Lagos

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu made a refund of N500,000 cash illegally extorted from a businessman by some police officers in the state.

The state Police Command disclosed, in a statement on Sunday, that the unnamed businessman was arrested and extorted of the said sum by the team of police officers for violating the curfew order imposed to stem the spread of the ravaging coronavirus disease in the state.

The Command further revealed that the police officers whose identity were not disclosed are undergoing orderly room trial.

“CP Lagos, Hakeem Odumosu, has refunded N500,000 cash to a businessman, who was arrested & extorted by a team of policemen for violating the curfew,” the Police Command in Lagos wrote on its official Twitter handle.

“The Police officers are undergoing orderly room trial. #StaySafe.”
