Police Arrest 22 Cultists in Ogun

Security operatives in Ogun State have apprehended 22 suspected members of the notorious Aiye confraternity during a targeted raid at Hilltop Hotel in Osiele, located in Odeda Local Government Area.

The operation, conducted on Friday night, was based on credible intelligence received by officers at the Odeda Police Division regarding the unlawful assembly of suspected cultists at the hotel premises.

According to sources, a joint tactical team—comprising personnel from the Aregbe Division, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), and the Anti-Cultism Unit—swiftly moved in on the location and successfully rounded up the suspects.

Among those arrested were 19 males, three females, and two serving military personnel, all believed to have affiliations with the cult group.

Recovered from the suspects were items linked to cult activities, including one UTC axe, a cut-to-size barrel gun, and multiple blue beret caps commonly associated with the Aiye confraternity.

The State Criminal Investigation Department’s Anti-Cultism Unit, based in Eleweran, has been tasked with conducting a discreet investigation into the incident, while the profiling of the suspects is currently ongoing.

Security sources emphasized that anyone found to be involved in cultism or other forms of organized crime would be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
