Police Arrest 12 Suspected Kidnappers In Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested 12 suspected kidnappers engaged in criminal activities throughout the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Shehu Umar-Nadada, revealed this on Thursday, stating that the command’s recent strategies have notably decreased crime levels in the state and yielded positive results.

He explained, “The command has apprehended 12 suspected kidnappers and other criminal elements in the past week. Investigations are ongoing, and we aim to arrest more suspects.”

Umar-Nadada mentioned that the police have identified various vulnerable areas where kidnappers operate, including Lafia, Gandu near the Federal University of Lafia, the GRA/Angwan Maitasa area, and Shabu in Lafia North local government area.

He also highlighted the recent tragic incident involving the murder of a 19-year-old student, Anas Zubairu, after a ransom of N17 million was purportedly paid.

This incident took place in the Project Quarters area of Lafia local government area. Additionally, he pointed out other areas of concern like Shinge and the 500 Housing Estate in the Lafia local government area.

The Commissioner mentioned that patrols have been increased in these areas to tackle criminal activities and ensure the safety of residents carrying out their daily routines.
