One person has sustained minor injuries following the partial collapse of a five-storey building under construction on Durban Street, Wuse II, Abuja.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said it received an alert about the incident at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Saturday and immediately mobilised emergency response agencies, including the FCT Fire Service, to the scene.
According to the agency, its AYA Emergency Response Ambulance Bay team coordinated search and rescue efforts, while the injured worker was evacuated to a nearby hospital for medical attention. NEMA confirmed that no life was lost in the incident.
The incident comes amid renewed concerns over building safety in the Federal Capital Territory, following previous structural collapses that have raised questions about construction standards, regulatory compliance and enforcement of building safety regulations.
