Nigerian Nollywood Actor, Saint Obi does on at 57

Nigerian Nollyywood actor, Saint Obi, has died at the age of 57 after a protracted illness, several reports have claimed.

Mr. Obi was said to have died earlier in the week after battling an undisclosed illness for several weeks with no successful treatment.

The Actors Guild of Nigeria, an official association  for all actors in Nigeria, is yet to make a statement on Saint Obi’s demise. It is reported that Mr. Obi’s family have a little disagreement with the guild hence the delay to make a formal announcement.

The great Actor came into prominent in his role in Zeb Ejiro’s movie Sakobi and featured in over 100 movies.

Saint Obi was born Obinna Nwafor on November 16, 1965 and hail from Imo state, Nigeria.

He studied theatre arts at the University of Jos. Saint Obi came into the acting scene in 1996, after doing a commercial for Peugeot on NTA. He has starred in over 60 movies.

In 2001, Saint Obi produced his first movie titled Take Me to Maama, where he starred as Jerry, alongside Ebi Sam, Rachel Oniga, Nse Abel and Enebeli Elebuwa.

The Nigerian actor was married to his wife, Lydia Saint Nwafor.

The couple, who were known to be long-time lovers during their youthful period tied the knot in December 2006 at Lydia’s hometown in Anambra state
