MURIC Calls NDDC ‘Epicentre Of Corruption’, Says Nothing To Show For Trillions Poured Into Commission Over The Years

The Muslim Right Concerns (MURIC) has reacted to the ongoing probe of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) over alleged financial mismanagement in the commission.

The NDDC Committee of the House of Representatives is investigating allegations of financial mismanagement of over N80 billion in the commission.

In a statement on Friday signed by its Director, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, MURIC described the NDDC as the epicentre of corruption in Nigeria, stating that it has got nothing to show for the trillions poured into the commission over the years.

Recall President Muhammadu Buhari ordered a speedy and effective coordination among security and investigating agencies along with the National Assembly into the allegations and counter allegations of corruption rocking the Commission.

The group described the President’s action as an indication of his resolve to truly fight corruption in the country, adding that “those who still doubt Buhari’s sincerity” in his anti-graft war, “need to get their brains reset in a robot factory”.

Hailing the President for allowing the probe of both the NDDC and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) during his administration, MURIC says Buhari has not been fully appreciated by Nigerians.

“It was the same when he was military head of state (1983-85). He strove to instil discipline and a culture of transparency but corrupt elements mobilized gullible Nigerians against him at that time,” the group said.

“However, it did not take long before they started wishing that he was back in power. Yet today, the same Nigerians have fallen victims of mass amnesia.

“Ex-governors Jolly Nyame and Joshua Dariye, both of the ruling party, are still in jail for corruption. Ngilari has tasted the bitter pill of the war against graft.

“The Ibrahim Magu and NDDC probes have also cemented the Federal Government’s sincerity regarding the war against corruption. Those who still doubt Buhari’s sincerity need to get their brains reset in a robot factory.

“By the same token, we commend the anti-corruption czar, Ibrahim Magu, for facing the ordeal with manly comportment. Unlike some certificated kleptomaniacs, Magu has refused to faint in the face of a Kilimanjaro-pile of allegations.”
