Some angry youth in Kano have stoned and booed Emir Muhammadu Sanusi on his way to the Kofar Kudu Palace shortly after he returned from his London trip, on Sunday.

The incident happened along Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital known as Bakin Asibiti.

The youths were chanting ‘Bamayi’. It took the intervention of security agencies to prevent the Emir from being harmed.

Sanusi who arrived in Nigeria from London via Lagos was welcomed at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport by his Chief of Staff Munir Sanusi and Dan Isan Kano Kabiru Tijjani Hashim.

The Emir was in London to defend his PhD thesis on Islamic Law which he successfully did without correction.

Meanwhile, Sanusi who is enjoying the support of the Kano State government is losing popularity due to the current economic situation as an advocate of fuel subsidy removal
