Mixed reactions have continued to trail Anthony Joshua’s first knockout win in three years recorded against Robert Helenius at the O2 Arena in London on Saturday.

Netizens have taken to different social media platforms to share their thoughts on the boxing bout between the Nigerian-born British boxer Anthony Joshua and the Finnish boxer Robert Helenius.

Joshua, in the seventh round of the fight against Helenius, scored his first knockout win since Bulgaria’s Kubrat Puliev’s in 2020.

Helenius had stepped in on short notice after the highly anticipated rematch between British heavyweight boxer Dillian Whyte popularly known as the “The Body Snatcher” and Joshua was cancelled due to Whyte’s failed drug test one week before the fight.

Joshua is likely to fight American boxer Deontay Wilder next, following the latter’s win against Helenius in October 2022.

Social media users have since taken to different platforms to share their thoughts on Joshua’s first KO in three years. While some congratulated the former two-time heavyweight champion, others called for a fight between him and Wilder.

Commenting on an X (formerly known as Twitter) post by Joshua himself which read: “Thank you. Until next time, God bless,” Chima Obikanu wrote, “Odogwu is back!”

Another Netizen, Felix Whale wrote, “Punch of the Year Anthony Joshua.”

Also, Wole Lagos on Instagram wrote: “Bravo champ ????. The trajectory can only be upward.”

A Zambian, Sunday Chilufa Chanda on Facebook wrote: “Congratulations AJ! You remain our Champion. This is from Zambia, Africa!!!”

Ktriggerz on the other hand while congratulating Joshua, wrote that he is looking forward to a fight between him and Wilder. “Worked the jab well got up close in the 7th and laid him out cold. KO unleashed. Looking forward to seeing Wilder fight.”

Ejimmi_eg tweeted: “KO of the year, our champ… Deontay Wilder January.”

HamedBoxing tweeted: “Nice KO but If you fight like that against Wilder you will most likely get KO’D. If it’s a shoot whoever lands first wins. Wilder rightfully favourite.”

Mat Ashworth commenting on a Facebook video of Joshua celebrating his win wrote: “Happy for ya lad but the guy fought last week. compared to a fresh hungry opposition. go and smash Wilder then you can dance about”

Sam Xhiri6 also wrote on Facebook: “While I’m happy you got a good win, Helenius isn’t such a big test. I’ll like to see you replicate this against a better opponent. Until then Congrats on your win AJ.”

Instagram user Mexyyy wrote: “AJ knocked Helenius out in 7 rounds but it took Detoney Wilder only 1 round to knock this same guy out. If AJ keeps fighting like this, Wilder will beat the shit out of him.”

Adejumo91 wrote: “You can even beat old man Usyk, don’t fight Wilder or Fury because we go just sing WE LOVE YOU BUT JESUS LOVE YOU MORE.”

  • Jilli Airstrike: Supporters Of Terrorists Will Be Treated As Bandits, Defence Minister Warns Defence Minister Christopher Musa has warned that supporters of terrorists would be treated as criminals. He said this on Monday as he reacted to the airstrike carried out by the Nigerian Air Force airstrike in Jilli, Borno State, over the weekend. Speaking after an expanded security meeting in Kaduna with the state governor and heads of security agencies, Musa said the operation sends a clear message to those collaborating with terrorist groups. He stressed that anyone found supporting insurgents would face the same consequences as the perpetrators. “A friend of a thief is a thief,” he said, warning civilians against associating with or providing any form of assistance to terrorists. Musa urged residents to steer clear of areas known to be used by insurgents, noting that proximity or collaboration could have grave consequences. The airstrike, carried out near the village of Jilli in Gubio Local Government Area, targeted what the military described as an ISWAP enclave and logistics hub. According to the Nigerian Air Force, the operation was intelligence-driven and aimed at neutralising terror elements and destroying their equipment. However, reports have emerged alleging that the strike may have affected a weekly market in the area, with civilians, including cross-border traders, reportedly among casualties. Musa, however, maintained that the strike should serve as a strong warning to those aiding insurgent activities, reaffirming the military’s resolve to intensify operations against terrorist networks. Air Component of Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, conducted a precision air strike on a known terrorist enclave and logistics hub located near the abandoned village of Jilli in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State. Giving an update on the airstrike, the Nigerian Army in a post on its official X handle said, “The successful strike, executed on 11 April 2026, followed sustained intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance missions over the Bindul–Jilli axis, an area long identified as a major terrorist movement corridor and convergence point for Islamic State West Africa Province terrorists and their collaborators.”
