Military Detains Naval Personnel After Shooting Fellow Soldier

Military Detains Naval Personnel After Shooting Fellow Soldier

 

A naval personnel, LS Akila A, has been detained after opening fire sporadically, killing a fellow military colleague at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Dansadua.

 

Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, in a statementn today said the ‘ incident occurred during Operation Fansan Yamma while Akila was  arrested and disarmed following the shooting.

 

He said the military has commenced an investigation into the questionable circumstances surrounding the shooting.

“After investigation, the case will be escalated to a standing court martial to address the misconduct among troop”, Gen. Buba said.

 

He noted that the military is withholding the name of the deceased until the family has been notified, as part of standard administrative procedures.

 

“We urge the public to exercise caution in reporting to avoid further demoralizing the family of the deceased,” he said.
