The Manchester United Muslim Supporters Club (MUMSC) has called for a change in the club’s ownership structure, saying it has lost confidence in the current leadership.

The supporters’ group made the demand following comments by co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe during a BBC interview, in which he discussed immigration, taxes and welfare while arguing that Britain was “on the slide.”

Ratcliffe, the founder of INEOS, had earlier attracted criticism in February after describing Britain as having been “colonised by immigrants.” He later apologised for his choice of language.

Reacting to his latest comments, MUMSC said it had previously hoped Ratcliffe would learn from the earlier controversy, adding that his latest remarks were “deeply disappointing and completely unacceptable.”

The group also highlighted Manchester United’s diverse fan base, players and workforce, stressing that people associated with the club come from different countries, cultures, ethnicities, religions and backgrounds.

MUMSC said its concerns went beyond Ratcliffe’s comments, citing issues surrounding the ownership of the club, ticket prices, the condition of Old Trafford and the team’s performances.

The supporters’ group said it had lost confidence in the current ownership structure, which includes the Glazer family and Ratcliffe, who acquired a 27.7 per cent stake in Manchester United in 2024.

“Enough is enough. It is time for change. The Glazers and Sir Jim Ratcliffe must go,” the group said.
