Man, 33, remanded for alleged sexual abuse of minor Abuse

An Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court sitting in Isabo, on Wednesday, ordered the remand of a 33-year-old man, Jessy Gambo, in the correctional service centre for allegedly having unlawful carnal knowledge of a 14-year-old girl.

The defendant, whose plea was not taken, was arraigned on a count charge of sexual abuse of a minor.

The Police Counsel, Solomon Babalola, moved a motion ex parte, praying the court to remand the defendant for 60 days in the first instance at the Ibara Correctional Centre pending legal advice from the state Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Babalola told the court that Gambo committed the offence sometime in October 2025 and on Dec. 5, 2025, at about 4:00 p.m., at Areke Town, Kajola, in the Owode Egba area of the state.

He alleged that the defendant, who is a neighbour to the victim, lured her into his room and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.

He said the offence contravened Section 32 of the Child Rights Law of Ogun State, 2006.

The Magistrate, Mrs A.Y. Morakinyo, ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Ibara Correctional Service Centre pending advice from the DPP.

She, thereafter, adjourned the case until March 10 for mention
