The Supreme Court has thrown away the fresh evidence brought by the Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, which alleged certificate forgery against his All Progressives Congress (APC) counterpart, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Atiku’s counsels had argued that the court can admit the evidence because of its relevance to the case.

Justice John Okoro in his ruling on Thursday morning however held that election matters are sui generis and tine-bound and also have their own separate rules.

He ruled that the 180 days allowed for election matters to be decided by the court of first instance has elapsed.

He therefore threw away the application to submit the fresh evidence from Chicago.

Details later.
