While the search for justice for the death of Vera Uwaila Omozuwa, a University of Benin (UNIBEN) undergraduate who was sexually assaulted by unknown men at a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) branch in Benin, is still ongoing, another young female student has been raped and stabbed to death in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The deceased named, Barakat Bello, was raped and murdered by yet-to-be-identified men, on Monday night, in her home in Ibadan.

The 19-year-old female was a student of Science Laboratory Technology ND1 of the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Moore Plantation, in Apata, Ibadan, Oyo.

The deceased father, Kasimu Elepo told Sahara Reporters he was not at home when the tragic incident occurred.

Elepo said his other daughter, (the deceased sister) who was also away, returned from her Quaranic lessons and found Bello’s body at the back of the house in a pool of her blood.

“I was not at home when the incident happened. The younger sister was not at home too, she went for Quaranic lessons but when she returned home, she saw her at the back of the house with deep cuts all over her body. She had been raped and killed,” he said.

“Somebody called me on the phone that I should come home but he refused to tell me what happened. When I got home, I saw that my daughter had been raped and stabbed to death.”

Filled with grief over his daughter’s death, the deceased father further revealed that the police in the area had begun an investigation into the matter.

The incident has since generated outrage on social media, as #JusticeForBarakat began trending in the early hours of Wednesday, following the news of Bello’s death.
