A factional National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe, has claimed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded the presidential candidate nominated by his faction onto its candidate nomination portal ahead of the 2027 General Elections, insisting that his group remains the authentic leadership of the party.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Gombe said his faction had successfully completed the submission of its presidential, vice-presidential and National Assembly candidates to the INEC portal, describing the development as a significant milestone in the party’s preparations for the 2027 polls.
He argued that the successful upload demonstrates his faction’s commitment to protecting the interests of the ADC’s founding and legacy members, despite what he described as “anti-democratic tendencies” within the party.
According to Gombe, the ADC remains committed to presenting credible, competent and people-centred candidates who will provide purposeful leadership, promote good governance and restore hope to Nigerians.
The factional chairman maintained that the upload further validates his claim to the party’s authentic leadership and expressed confidence that his faction would continue to pursue its political objectives within the framework of the law.
As of the time of filing this report, the Independent National Electoral Commission had not issued an official statement confirming Gombe’s claims or clarifying the status of the candidates uploaded to its nomination portal, while the leadership dispute within the ADC remains unresolved.
