In Edo, NYSC DG Warns Corps Members Against Unethical Conduct

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Brigadier General Yushau’ Ahmed has warned Corps Members to shun every form of misconduct throughout their service year in order to avoid being sanctioned by the NYSC Byelaws.

 

Brigadier General gave the warning while addressing Corps Members at the scheme’s Orientation Camps in Okada, Edo State and likewise Ikare-Akoko, Ondo State, Southern Nigeria.

 

Eddy Megwa, Director, Press and Public Relations in a statement, today in Abuja.

 

He said there are laid down rules and regulations guiding every Corps Member while in camp, adding that the Scheme is not a safe abode for lawbreakers.

 

“You are expected to dress in line with the approved NYSC dress code.

 

As much as possible, avoid unnecessary journey and don’t embark on any risky adventure that may put you in danger. Try and be security conscious at all times and reject the temptation of free rides”, he said.

 

General Ahmed also urged the Corps Members to respect the cultural beliefs of their host communities and avoid any action that may put them on collision.

 

He appealed to them to add value to their host communities by executing projects that would make life more comfortable for the residents.

 

While presenting his Orientation Camp report to the Director General, the NYSC Edo State Coordinator, Malam Suleiman Andy Ibrahim said a total of 2,161 Corps Members comprising 1,113 males and 1,029 females were registered.

He added that Skill Acquisition training has commenced with Corps Members showing high level of commitment and are enthusiastic in acquiring knowledge.

 

Similarly, the NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs Nnenna Ani said camp activities are going on smoothly.

 

She disclosed that the Corps Members are actively working as good ambassadors of their institutions and families to ensure the success of the Orientation Course with teamwork among all Camp Officials

Ani said a total of 196 camp officials made up of 111 NYSC, 85 non-NYSC staff, together with 1,879 Corps Members comprising 984 males and 895 females have synergized to ensure a successful Orientation Exercise.
