Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has reiterated his administration’s resolve not to have anything to do with bandits.

A statement issued by the governor’s spokesman, Sulaiman Baba Idris, explained the governor’s determination not to negotiate with bandits and engage his government with those responsible for terrorizing the state.

Speaking on Thursday, in continuation of his visit to communities recently attacked by bandits, Lawal assured them of his commitment to restoring security and rebuilding affected areas.

The governor, according to the statement, visited Kagara, Dan Isa, and Kasuwar Daji in the Kauran Namoda Local Government Area as part of a broader outreach to demonstrate solidarity with victims and assess the situation first-hand.

Governor Lawal said, “On Wednesday, I began a condolence tour to communities targeted by bandits.”

He assured that security remains the top priority of his administration, saying that they are deploying every resource to protect lives and property across Zamfara.

The governor explained that from the onset of his tenure, he made it clear that the government will not negotiate with bandits, pointing out that the position remains unchanged and will not change, as criminals have consistently shown no sincerity or remorse.

He also observed the poor condition of roads leading to the affected communities, assuring that his administration will prioritize their rehabilitation to improve access and support local development.

The governor’s visits underscore his administration’s resolve to confront insecurity head-on while also addressing infrastructural challenges that compound the vulnerability of rural communities.
