Philip Shaibu, incumbent Deputy Governor of Edo State, has revealed what led to his fall out with Adams Oshiomhole, the former national chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Speaking with newsmen in Benin City on Thursday, Shaibu said his relationship with Oshiomhole fell apart after he refused to support the former governor’s plans to impeach the incumbent Governor, Godwin Obaseki.

The Deputy Governor said he declined to be part of the impeachment plans because it was not his ‘will’ and not in his ‘nature” to betray.

He said despite his plea to ex-APC national chairman to let go of any grievance he had against Governor Obaseki because the governor was serving the people well, it all “fell on deaf ears”.

The Deputy Governor further stated that when it became clear Oshiomhole had declared war against the Governor, he made the former governor understand he would stick with his principal.

Continuing, he said his distaste for oppression was the reason he chose to fight against the “form of oppression Oshiomhole is championing”.

Shaibu added that Oshiomhole had lost his credibility in the State and challenged him to come and test his popularity in the coming September 19 governorship poll.
