The Delta State Police Command, on Wednesday, announced the arrest of nine Delta youths for allegedly attacking its officers and destroying the vehicle of the Force.

The state Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, disclosed this via his X handle, adding that the head of one of its officers was broken in the attack.

Explaining the incident, Edafe stated that officers of the Force from Ughelli Area Command intercepted an unregistered Benz GLK without a plate number in the Ekuigbo community on Tuesday, and engaged four individuals who could not provide proof of owning the car.

According to the PPRO, “in an attempt to arrest them, some of the youths attacked the police, destroyed their vehicle, and broke the head of one of the officers.”

He added that “nine of the suspects were arrested and will be charged to court. Youths are advised to stay off any protest because it won’t deter us from doing our job.”
