Gunmen have abducted a staff member of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Anambra State, with the kidnappers reportedly demanding a ₦40 million ransom for the victim’s release.

The abduction occurred while the INEC official was travelling, sparking renewed concerns over the worsening security situation in the state. Family members and security agencies have since begun efforts to secure the victim’s safe release.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, with security operatives intensifying efforts to track down the kidnappers and rescue the abducted official.

The latest incident adds to the growing number of kidnapping cases across parts of the country, prompting fresh calls for stronger security measures and improved protection for public servants and citizens.
