FG Deploys Officers to MDAs to Monitor PMS Implementation

The federal government has assigned a team of officers to monitor the activities of federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, as part of ensuring the full implementation of The federal government has appointed a team of officers to oversee the operations of federal Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in order to ensure the complete implementation of its Performance Management System (PMS). its Performance Management System, PMS.

Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, OHCSF, disclosed this while declaring open a retreat on PMS for Permanent Secretaries.

Speaking at the retreat in Abuja on Tuesday, Yemi-Esan explained that the most focal enabler to bring about the rapid and sustainable implementation of PMS is “Culture Change”.

According to her, it is pertinent for Permanent Secretaries, as accounting officers, to implement effective performance monitoring and reporting systems, providing timely and accurate data to inform decision-making and drive organizational performance.

“You are also to oversee the finalization of performance measures at both the individual and unit levels, ensuring that Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and targets are clearly defined and aligned with organizational goals.

‘You are also responsible for introducing regular performance appraisals and dialogues, facilitating constructive feedback, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within your teams,” she said.

The HOCSF noted that one of the hallmarks of a functional PMS is one in which employees face sanctions for non-compliance with procedures or get incentives for high performance.
